Longstanding Indian Mayer & Cie. representative Batliboi participated in their first virtual trade show. At vTex, they met up with customers and professional audience that they cannot meet in person due to the Corona pandemic.

Mayer & Cie. will participate in the virtual trade fair Innovate Textile and Apparel from 15 to 30 October 2020. Their exhibit will focus on circular knitting machines producing mattress covers as well as double jersey and Relanit models.

In a video interview, Benjamin Mayer talks about the effects the pandemic has had on a manufacturer of circular knitting machines like Mayer & Cie., on why it is important to tackle on one’s weaknesses in times of crisis and on how business might evolve post covid-19.

The measures undertaken to contain the spread of Covid-19 have led to downturns in the German engineering industry. Yet, “there are a few markets keeping up some of their regular activities while observing strict measures to contain the corona pandemic”, says Sales Director Wolfgang Müller.

This year’s ITM textile machinery fair is scheduled for 14 to 18 July in Istanbul. It was postponed due to the spread of the coronavirus and the July dates are by no means certain, but Mayer & Cie. (MCT) is still going ahead with preparations.

Due to the corona crisis, circular knitting machine manufacturer Mayer & Cie. is now producing its circular knitting and braiding machines by working in two shifts. Administration is also pursuing a two-part strategy.

“Egypt has long been a permanent feature on our Mayer & Cie. world map,” says Benjamin Mayer, Managing Director of Mayer & Cie.

Sales manager Bühler is conveinced: “Patience may still be required of us textile machinery manufacturers but in our opinion Ethiopia will sooner or later become the new Bangladesh.”

At Shanghaitex Mayer & Cie. China (MCN) exhibited the MFC 3.2. Where will the machine be available? MCF stands for “Mayer Fleece China”. Developed for the Chinese market, it is the first model that was developed in-house by our Chinese subsidiary Mayer & Cie. in Shanghai.

A few weeks ago at the ITMA trade fair the (circular-knitted) sports outfit in Mayer & Cie.’s corporate colours was worn by a shop window dummy in a victory pose on the rostrum in Barcelona, where it stood for the popularity of fashionable sportswear, an important growth driver in the circular knitting industry.
