Mayer & Cie. looks back positively at Egy Stitch & Tex Expo in Egypt

“Egypt has long been a permanent feature on our Mayer & Cie. world map,” says Benjamin Mayer, Managing Director of Mayer & Cie. “Subject to political and economic framework conditions order volumes may vary over the years, but in principle our status is firmly consolidated.” This year the company’s Managing Director attended the Egy Stitch & Tex trade fair, held from 5 to 8 March 2020 in Cairo, himself. At the fair Mayer & Cie.’s Egyptian representative Outatex exhibited two machines, a Relanit 3.2 HS and an MBF 3.2.

The first, a member of the Relanit range, is partly responsible for the status of Mayer & Cie. worldwide. Thanks to their relative technology, the Relanit machines are bestsellers, also in Egypt. They process a very wide range of yarn qualities and do so more reliably and more efficiently than conventional circular knitting machines. On a 30-inch frame, it reaches up to 50 rpm and up to 45 rpm when processing elastomeric yarns.

The second Mayer & Cie. machine on show at the Stitch & Tex Expo was the MBF 3.2. A three-thread fleece machine, it comes into its own when heavier, warm cotton and cotton mix fabrics are in demand. The MBF 3.2 delivers high-quality material on both sides of the fabric and produces a large number of sophisticated structures.

“Our portfolio of machines and the attractive, clearly arranged stand prepared by our Egyptian representative Outatex ensured a brisk flow of visitors,” Benjamin Mayer says. “Due to the corona situation, international exhibitors and visitors may not have attended the trade fair, but local visitors were strongly represented.”

Local visitors included a delegation from the country’s state-owned textile companies. Mayer & Cie. was evidently able to convince these visitors with its exhibit and its portfolio. After the fair the company was invited to submit tenders for the modernisation of the state-owned textile companies’ machinery with a total volume of over 100 machines.

“We naturally hope that something comes of as many of these tenders as possible,” says Mayer & Cie. CEO Mayer. “Meanwhile we owe a great debt of gratitude to our local representative Outatex and its employees for their very good work before, during and after the trade fair.”
