“Egypt has long been a permanent feature on our Mayer & Cie. world map,” says Benjamin Mayer, Managing Director of Mayer & Cie.
Sales manager Bühler is conveinced: “Patience may still be required of us textile machinery manufacturers but in our opinion Ethiopia will sooner or later become the new Bangladesh.”

At Shanghaitex Mayer & Cie. China (MCN) exhibited the MFC 3.2. Where will the machine be available? MCF stands for “Mayer Fleece China”. Developed for the Chinese market, it is the first model that was developed in-house by our Chinese subsidiary Mayer & Cie. in Shanghai.
Pakistan is one of the textile and clothing industry’s largest locations. In cotton production alone, it is a global Top Five producer with 13 million bales.
A few weeks ago at the ITMA trade fair the (circular-knitted) sports outfit in Mayer & Cie.’s corporate colours was worn by a shop window dummy in a victory pose on the rostrum in Barcelona, where it stood for the popularity of fashionable sportswear, an important growth driver in the circular knitting industry.
In respect of digitization, corporate development and service we hear from Sebastian Mayer, member of the Management, from Stefan Brändle, in overall charge of networks, and from Giovanni Maltese, Head of Electronic Engineering, about their personal ITMA experiences.
India is one of Mayer & Cie.’s most important markets. In the premium and mid-market segment the Albstadt-based family firm’s market share is 36 percent, due mainly to its longstanding successful collaboration with local representatives Batliboi.
Digitization is a topic that no company can afford to ignore nowadays. It does, however, cover a wide range of processes from which each company must find the right solution for its needs. That, says Sebastian Mayer, the member of the Management in charge of corporate development, is why “there is no such thing as digitization per se; there are different areas in which it can be of relevance for us as an engineering company.
From Research and Development we hear from Marcus Mayer, Managing Director, Dr. Wolfgang Bauer, Head of R & D, and Bernd Boss, in charge of Patents and Technical Documentation, about their personal ITMA experiences.
“Stay a winner. With Mayer & Cie.” is the slogan that Mayer & Cie. will be using at this year’s ITMA. At the leading industry trade fair, in Barcelona from 20 to 26 June, Mayer & Cie.’s presentation will focus on sport.
With sales of around EUR 110 million Mayer & Cie. can draw a positive line under the year 2018. In spite of considerable fluctuations in the textile machinery market the family-owned Albstadt firm held its own and even achieved a slight increase on sales in the previous year.
2019 marks the starting signal for the production of braiding machines at Mayer & Cie.’s Albstadt headquarter. These special machines are only distantly related to circular knitting machines, but they are good old aquaintances: US affiliate Mayer Industries in Orangeburg, South Carolina, built the special machines for more than 40 years.
“The circular knitting machine market in Bangladesh is one of the stablest in the world,” says Hardy Bühler, Mayer & Cie.’s area sales manager for the South-East Asian country.
