On 23 September 2025, Mayer & Cie., a manufacturer of circular knitting and braiding machines in Albstadt, filed an application for the opening of insolvency proceedings in self-administration at the Hechingen District Court.
Mayer & Cie. will participate in ITMA Asia from October 28 to 31, 2025, which takes place in Singapore. Visitors will find the manufacturer of circular knitting machines and braiding machines in Hall 5, Stand D 301.
And another one: Mayer & Cie. just sent off the second braiding machine equipped with 48 carriers. It needed a forklift designed for especially heavy loads to put the braiding head onto the truck. For Mayer & Cie., this marks a milestone in the evolution of the braiding unit of the company.

The new machine control system Control 5.0 is now available. It makes from Mayer & Cie. circular knitting machines Internet- and knitlink-ready, preparing them for the digital future of textile production.
Control 5.0 is the prerequisite for accessing knitlink, Mayer & Cie.’s digital platform. The new machine control system is available as an upgrade kit for all machines built from 2001 onward. From now on, every newly delivered mechanical circular knitting machine will be equipped with Control 5.0 as standard. Electronic machines will follow in due time.

When Michael Fortenbacher started his own apprenticeship with Mayer & Cie. in 1986, a lot of manual work was still required. Today, more work is done by machines and trainers make sure apprentices feel comfortable and identify with their future career.
The German braiding machine manufacturer Mayer & Cie. has been offering braiding machines with 48 carriers since this autumn. An MR-11 type braiding machine will be the first to be delivered with 48 carriers. It will leave the plant in Albstadt, Southern Germany, before Christmas. The first MR-15 equipped with 48 carriers is to follow in spring 2025. With the braiding machines with 48 carriers, customers benefit from larger inner tube diameters, short set-up times and unaltered coil volumes. This applies to both yarn and wire.
The machines that run at Gota in Albstadt-Tailfingen are many decades old. The fabric they produce is used, among other things, to make “Merz b. Schwanen” brand shirts, which have achieved cult status thanks to the “The Bear” series at the latest.

Caine-Allen Bauser has been living in China for almost a year. He took care of the relocation of the Mayer & Cie. works from Shanghai to Jintan. He already knew during his training that he would follow a circular knitting machine to the end of the world, if need be.

knitlink is the web-based customer and machine portal from Mayer & Cie. It is the hub for all information and services relating to circular knitting machines. Currently, knitlink has three components: my.monitoring, my.store and my.services.
Control 5.0 is the new machine control system for Mayer & Cie. machines. It is a prerequisite for the use of any of the knitlink applications. From 2024, it will be installed as standard in all circular knitting machines. For machines built in 2001 or later, Control 5.0 is available as an upgrade, either in the standard version as SmartControl or as ClassicControl.
