We look back on two busy and intense days at Techtextil 2026. Our small trade fair team—Xu Hongjie, the new owner of Mayer & Cie., and Oliver Bühler—took advantage of the international industry gathering in Frankfurt to meet many people in person.

Germany, April 16, 2026 – The future of the Mayer & Cie. brand has been secured: Following the successful completion of the purchase agreement for assets in the circular knitting machinery segment of the German traditional company Mayer & Cie., which was signed in February this year, the brand will continue to exist. The transfer of these assets to the new owner, Xu Hongjie, was formally completed yesterday afternoon. This clears the way for the resumption of business operations at the Albstadt site.
On 23 September 2025, Mayer & Cie., a manufacturer of circular knitting and braiding machines in Albstadt, filed an application for the opening of insolvency proceedings in self-administration at the Hechingen District Court.
Mayer & Cie. will participate in ITMA Asia from October 28 to 31, 2025, which takes place in Singapore. Visitors will find the manufacturer of circular knitting machines and braiding machines in Hall 5, Stand D 301.
And another one: Mayer & Cie. just sent off the second braiding machine equipped with 48 carriers. It needed a forklift designed for especially heavy loads to put the braiding head onto the truck. For Mayer & Cie., this marks a milestone in the evolution of the braiding unit of the company.
On July 8, 2025 Mayer & Cie. celebrates its 120th anniversary. The company, now in its fourth generation of family ownership, specializes in the production and sale of circular knitting and braiding machines.
The new machine control system Control 5.0 is now available. It makes from Mayer & Cie. circular knitting machines Internet- and knitlink-ready, preparing them for the digital future of textile production.
Control 5.0 is the prerequisite for accessing knitlink, Mayer & Cie.’s digital platform. The new machine control system is available as an upgrade kit for all machines built from 2001 onward. From now on, every newly delivered mechanical circular knitting machine will be equipped with Control 5.0 as standard. Electronic machines will follow in due time.
Patrick Moser began his career at Mayer & Cie. as a service technician – and still benefits from the valuable insights he gained during his assignments around the globe. Today, these experiences help him tackle the wide range of challenges in his current role, which spans design, assembly, and logistics for Mayer & Cie.’s braiding machines.
At the end of March 2025, Mayer & Cie. put another DMG Mori lathe into operation. It is the fourth of a total of five state-of-the-art CNC lathes that Mayer & Cie. uses in the manufacturing process.

The German braiding machine manufacturer Mayer & Cie. has been offering braiding machines with 48 carriers since this autumn. An MR-11 type braiding machine will be the first to be delivered with 48 carriers. It will leave the plant in Albstadt, Southern Germany, before Christmas. The first MR-15 equipped with 48 carriers is to follow in spring 2025. With the braiding machines with 48 carriers, customers benefit from larger inner tube diameters, short set-up times and unaltered coil volumes. This applies to both yarn and wire.
The machines that run at Gota in Albstadt-Tailfingen are many decades old. The fabric they produce is used, among other things, to make “Merz b. Schwanen” brand shirts, which have achieved cult status thanks to the “The Bear” series at the latest.
Caine-Allen Bauser has been living in China for almost a year. He took care of the relocation of the Mayer & Cie. works from Shanghai to Jintan. He already knew during his training that he would follow a circular knitting machine to the end of the world, if need be.
At Simatex in Argentina, Mayer & Cie. welcomed numerous visitors to their booth – despite the difficult market situation in the country. Fernando Ferradás, long-standing agent in Argentina relates this to the new government’s economical policy.

In Spring, we got visitors from Döhler in Brazil. The company works with circular knitting machines by Mayer & Cie. to produce mattress covers and shoe uppers.

In March 2024, Mayer & Cie. China will relocate from Shanghai to Jintan. In the near future, machines for the domestic market will also be sourced domestically.
