A Trade Show with Event Character: Colombiatex 2024 – A Successful Happening for Mayer & Cie.

Colombiatex 2024 (January 23–25, 2025) once again proved to be a trade show with an event-like character and was a success for Mayer & Cie. The event in Medellín attracted numerous fashion industry customers and provided an ideal platform for discussions on market trends and technological developments.

A Well-Attended Trade Show with an International Audience

“The Colombiatex is primarily a fashion and apparel trade show, with only a small share of machinery manufacturers,” explains Horst Maier, Sales Director at Mayer & Cie. “The focus is on fabrics, fashion, and clothing, so many companies—including international ones—present their products. This year, companies from Iran and India were also exhibiting fabrics.” For Mayer & Cie., the trade show was very well attended. Many customers specifically visited the joint booth, which was organized by Brückner and included Karl Mayer, Erbatech, Xetma, and Mayer & Cie. This exhibitor group attracted numerous international visitors, particularly from Peru, Ecuador, and Brazil. While some of these companies had their own booths, many attended Colombiatex to explore fashion trends relevant to the U.S. and European markets.

Product Interest and Business Deals

Visitors showed particular interest in Mayer & Cie.’s circular knitting machines for finer gauges, especially the OV 3.2 and MV 4 3.2 models with E36 to E44 gauge options. These machines are in high demand for producing outerwear, sportswear, and lingerie. A business deal was successfully closed on-site, and several promising projects were initiated and thoroughly discussed. The Senso Blue RS lubrication system also attracted strong attention. More and more customers are specifically requesting this oiler, as it reduces costs while also making a significant contribution to sustainability. Its importance in recycling is growing. Customers who adopt the Senso Blue RS tend to use it permanently—an established trend across many markets.

A Trade Show with a Unique Character

Colombiatex stands out from other trade fairs due to its special atmosphere. In addition to traditional exhibition halls, the event features spacious open-air areas. In the evenings, live music events attract visitors, creating a vibrant and inspiring environment. This unique setup makes Colombiatex not just a trade show, but a true happening that brings together industry players from around the world.

Market Trends and Industry Exchange

The Peruvian market is currently experiencing strong growth and is booming in the region. Peruvian companies have successfully positioned themselves in the export market, mainly producing for international brands rather than developing their own labels. Some of these companies, including Precotex, had their own booths. In Colombia, many companies have faced economic challenges in recent years. Despite this, the market remains highly significant for Mayer & Cie. “Our booth partners were also very pleased with the show, as we often serve the same customers, leading to valuable discussions about industry needs. Many companies have their own spinning and finishing facilities, making the exchange of comprehensive production solutions particularly useful,” summarizes Horst Maier.
