Mayer & Cie. at ITM: Successful return to normality

Being able to meet people in person again was the most important concern of the Mayer & Cie. team for the ITM trade fair in Istanbul. Managing Director Benjamin Mayer says: “For about two years, our sales team worked from our desks. To finally get out again, to be able to look people in the eye, to drink a tea together, that was just great for all of us.”

Managing Director Mayer therefore did not miss the opportunity to travel to Istanbul himself together with colleagues from sales and product management. The organization of the fair was taken care of by the Turkish Mayer & Cie. representative Mayer Mümessillik.

Fine Gauge and X frame

At the fair, the company presented three machines: D4-2.2 X for fine rib and interlock, the OV 3.2 QCe for double jersey structures and the MV4 3.2 II for single jersey knitted fabrics. When making the selection, the Mayer & Cie. team attached great importance to the possibility of knitting in fine gauges. In Istanbul, the OV 3.2 Q Ce was shown in its finest gauge E40. The MV-4 3.2 II knitted at the show in E38; gauges up to E60 are possible. With the D4-2.2 X, the X frame was a central point for those of interest: it enables the winding of larger bales and thus an increase in production.

International visitors

With these bestsellers, the circular knitting machine manufacturer was able to appeal to a large and broad audience – from Germany as well as from Asia and the Maghreb. They were received by the Mayer & Cie. representatives from Egypt, India and Uzbekistan, who were also part of the stand team. For Mayer & Cie., ITM has thus fulfilled its reputation as an international trade fair.

Positive summary

In terms of machine sales, Mayer & Cie. Managing Director Mayer is cautiously positive: “After a difficult pandemic year in 2020, we had a successful 2021. In 2022, we will again experience a somewhat greater restraint on the part of our customers. The war in Ukraine is one reason for this. Overall, it looks like the market will stabilize after the rollercoaster ride of recent years.”
