CITME 2004: Mayer & Cie. to exhibit "6-colour striping" and "spacer fabrics". MERZ will present its Body Size MBS.
The Chinese circular knitting market has developed in leaps and bounds over recent years. As market leader in the field of circular knitting machines, Mayer & Cie. lost no time in facing up to this challenge, establishing its own company in China which offers customer support, maintenance and servicing in two different locations, and which is primarily also concerned with staging comprehensive training events and seminars.

The sales figures achieved by the new company to date testify to the success of this active market support policy. Trade fairs such as the CITME naturally also play a highly import role. Together with its subsidiary MERZ Maschinenfabrik GmbH, which has specialized in circular knitting machines with small nominal diameters, Mayer & Cie. will be exhibiting at the CITME 2004.

Both companies will be presenting innovative new developments which are certain to meet with enthusiastic interest in the Chinese market.

For the first time, Mayer & Cie. will be exhibiting its Relanit 1.6 R machine with the capability for not only 4-colour but also 6-colour striping – also and primarily in combination with perfect elastomer plating. The machine will be presented with a 34 inch diameter and in gauge E 28. Relative movement or Relanit technology has now also become the established single jersey standard in the Chinese market. Its gentle treatment of the yarn as a result of reduced tension with few deflection points makes for a substantial increase in productivity with fewer faults in the fabric – which together add up to considerable cost savings. In addition to these weighty arguments, Relanit circular knitting machines also offer a high degree of flexibility and patterning variety – which can be even further extended by the facility for "6-colour striping".

Particularly in these times of high market saturation of standard textiles, the issue of "spacer fabrics" has taken on a special significance. Already a success story today, spacer fabrics seem poised on the brink of a highly interesting future. Applications for spacer fabrics include specialpurpose and technical textiles.

Brassiere cups have recently been highlighted as one attractive market for spacer fabrics – a field in which the Mayer & Cie. OV 3.2 OC can claim to be the ultimate specialist.

At the CITME 2004, the OV 3.2 QC will be on show with a 34 inch diameter and gauge E 32.

The QC in the name stands for Quick Change – i.e. high-speed gauge changeover. Trade visitors to the CITME will have the chance to experience live how the OV 3.2 QC produces spacer fabrics with elastomer plating on both fabric faces. The spacer fabrics boom has lent the OV 3.2, the most successful double piqué machine of all time, a whole new impetus.

The new MBS body size jacquard machine from MERZ was presented for the first time at the ITMA 2003, and has since proven highly successful in practical application. In this special machine segment, MERZ is anticipating excellent sales opportunities in the Chinese market. This new development, classified in specialist circles as "exemplary", already attracted lively interest at the Shanghai-Tex 2003.

The MBS is on offer in 8 different cylinder diameters from 10 to 17 inches and in gauges ranging from E 16 to E 32. Technically in line with the state of the art, this is the ultimate machine for manufacturing underwear as well as sports and swim wear – but also for medical compresses.
