Mayer & Cie. strengthens its top management team: Marcus Mayer and Karl-Heinz Dommes appointed additional Managing Directors.
As both the two new Managing Directors will be taking charge of fields for which they have long since held managerial responsibility, their appointment to the Management Board may be seen as a natural progression.

Karl-Heinz Dommes has been Head of Finance and Accounts for the company’s commercial activities for many years. Having also fulfilled other leading managerial functions in the company’s subsidiaries, he is closely integrated in the Mayer & Cie. Group.

From March 2007, his fields of responsibility will be extended by his appointment to the Management Board. Karl-Heinz Dommes, who has been with Mayer & Cie. since 1973, joined the company as a balance sheet accountant. His fields of responsibility on the Board will encompass the Finance and Accounts Division and Human Resources.

Marcus Mayer, son of long-serving Managing Partner Peter Mayer who left as Managing Director to take well-deserved retirement in 2003, will be representing the successor generation of the family firm. Born in 1973, he was interested from a very young age in all things technical. His talents in this direction prompted him to change to the Technical Grammar School in Balingen in 1989, which he attended until 1992. He then entered into a training program which started from the very basis. He was apprenticed to Groz-Beckert as an industrial mechanic, then completed his mandatory Civil Service period, after which he took a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Konstanz, specializing additionally in international marketing. As a Graduate Engineer, he then attended a post-graduate course at the Cologne Academy of Business Administration, from which he graduated as a Business Economist (KAB). With this excellent technical and commercial grounding, he started his career at Mayer & Cie. in 2002, where he has been an authorized company signatory since 2003 with responsibility mainly in the fields of Development, Design, Materials Management and Value Analysis. In his new capacity on the Management Board, he will now be assuming extended responsibility for steering and control of these fields of competence.

Rainer Mayer, brother to Peter Mayer and sole Managing Partner since his brother’s retirement, is spokesman for the Management Board and holds the reins of responsibility within the new management constellation for the fields of Sales, Quality Assurance, Operations, Assembly, Spare Parts and IT.

The extension of the Management Board is aimed at spreading the weight of responsibility over a broader basis, and as such represents an important step in securing the company’s future. Minimizing decision-making processes and establishing clear fields of responsibility will help tighten up procedures and create the right conditions for a more flexible, faster response to the ever more rapidly changing trends and developments taking place in world markets.

Internally, the various operational fields of competence are represented by technically qualified personalities with a proven general management track record.
