So it is clearly in the interests of both Mayer & Cie. and its customers to find ways of raising the level of skill among knitting machine operators.
With this aim in mind, Mayer & Cie. maintains training and education centers around the world in which it invests considerable sums.
The latest training center was launched at the beginning of the year in cooperation with Delta Textile Egypt – one of Mayer & Cie.’s biggest customers in Egypt. Delta Textile Egypt provides the training staff, who themselves receive training for their role in the MSL Training Center at the Mayer & Cie. headquarters. The company has also drawn up training documentation in Arabic which encompasses both engineering and application technology aspects.
For hands-on practical training, Mayer & Cie. has provided a modern OVJA 1.6 ETR. This fully electronic Jacquard circular knitting machine with striping and transfer is one of the most versatile machines on the market today, and provides ideal conditions for training skilled knitting machine operators.
Mayer & Cie. also enjoys a model cooperative relationship with Delta Textile Egypt outside the training sector. This successful textile producer pioneered use of the Relanit 3.2 II in Egypt for the production of elastomer plated fabrics in conjunction with the open-width frame. As this frame is optionally supplied by Mayer & Cie. with sliding doors, the space conditions available allowed Delta to swap its existing machine outfit with fabric tube takedown for new models with open-width frames.
With the new Training Center, Delta Textile Egypt and Mayer & Cie. are providing an enormous benefit to the whole of the circular knitting industry in Egypt, by actively addressing the shortage of skilled personnel. In July 2005, the first 12 candidates successfully qualified and were duly presented with their training certificates. The second course also quickly filled with students from Cairo and Alexandria.
