Mayer & Cie. at the ITMA Asia. New machines give rise to optimism.
Mayer & Cie. has good reason to look back favourably on the ITMA Asia 2001, and in keeping with tradition the company will be heading out to Singapore from October 17 – 21 2005 in optimistic mood – particularly as it will be treating fair-goers to a whole series of new developments.
Basic-Line extends the customer target group for single and double jersey circular knitting machines. With Basic-Line, Mayer & Cie. is launching a new machine series designed to extend its market potential. Basic-Line machines provide the accustomed standard of Mayer & Cie. quality and output but are designed to cater to less elaborate performance requirements and more restricted investment budgets. The Basic-Line single jersey machine S4-3.2 was exhibited for the first time at the ShanghaiTex in June 2005, where it met with enormous interest. This is the basic machine model for single jersey constructions with between 1 and 4 needle tracks. At first glance, the S4-3.2 differs only marginally from the familiar look of any other Mayer & Cie. circular knitting machine. And Mayer & Cie. is anxious to emphasize that this very affordably priced model has been blessed with all the accustomed positive attributes of an MCT machine such as reliability, high output and exemplary knitted fabric quality. Operation of the S4-3.2 has been made outstandingly simple, for instance through the use of symbols instead of text instructions in the control system. Particular importance was also attached to the maximized use of standardized components. The needles and sinkers used, for instance, are available anywhere around the world. The S4-3.2 will feature a portal frame with mechanical winding mechanism or optionally a folding device initially in 2 diameters (30“/96 feeders and 34“/108 feeders). Gauges range from E 18 to E 32. The exhibited S4-3.2 will have a 34“ diameter and gauge E28. The ITMA Asia set the scene for the unveiling of an absolute premiere: The first Basic-Line double jersey Machine, the D4-2.0. This new development produces plain interlock fabrics and interlock structures as well as 1:1 rib and rib structures on a polyester and cotton basis with outstanding economy. The new D4-2.0 comes with 71 feeders and a 34” diameter for outstanding productivity. It is also characterized by extreme operating simplicity and minimal outlay. With 1 to 4 needle tracks in the cylinder and 2 needle tracks in the dial cam, it even achieves a good degree of flexibility. When resetting between different knitted constructions, whole segments can be displaced, partially eliminating the need for exchanging cam parts. A gauge change is simplicity itself and is completed in record time. The model on show will be a gauge E 28 machine.
Knit up to 10-colour stripes with relative movement technology – Relanit 1.6 R. Relative movement technology - a Mayer & Cie. development – is the current standard for single jersey production today, and lends itself ideally to the production of striped fabrics. The absence of any obstacles blocking direct access to the needle bed, for instance, makes the Relanit the ideal machine for striping. The trend towards stripes using as many colours as possible has culminated in the development at Mayer & Cie. of 4-colour through to 5-colour stripers, which also open up scope for the manufacture of 10-colour striped fabrics using 2 feeders. This Mayer & Cie. development has been patent registered. The further developed rapport software 2.0 simplifies the programming of both the width and the number of stripes. The Relanit 1.6 R with 10 colour striping using 2 feeders and elastomer plating will be on show in Singapore at the ITMA Asia with a 34“ diameter, 54 feeders and gauge E 24.
The OVJA 1.1 TTRB offers whole new scope for circular knitting: Full 3-way jacquard on both faces with stripes, transfer and welt – resulting in outstanding fashion versatility. With its OVJA 1.1 TTRB at the ITMA Asia, Mayer & Cie. will be demonstrating just how much fashion it is possible to produce using a fully electronic circular knitting machine. Full 3-way jacquard both in cylinder and dial with automatic stitch depth adjustment for the welt offers extreme patterning versatility for both fabric faces. And with electronic 3-way individual selection of the cylinder and dial needles, resetting to knit new patterns is simplicity itself. The patterning versatility available is further enhanced by stripes and transfer, opening up unlimited creative scope for designers. At the same time, even small batch sizes and demanding patterns are made a viable proposition by the short resetting times. In the cylinder cam, the needles are electronically selected in line with the pattern. As the dial cam also works with individual electronic needle selection, the OVJA 1.1 TTRB offers a unique patterning variety coupled with simple resetting – also on the reverse face of the fabric. Automatic stitch depth adjustment takes place electronically in the welt and patterning area, governed by the pattern control system. This helps simplify operation even further. The EPA (Electronic Positive Adjustable) takedown developed by Mayer & Cie. is also controlled precisely in line with the pattern. For fully fashioned articles, this new machine knits using a separating thread and welt. This knitted welt enhances the productivity of individual parts by eliminating waste. Making-up costs are also substantially reduced as a result. With stripes and transfer, the OVJA 1.1 TTRB offers the full range of individual patterning possibilities for staying at the forefront of current and future fashions. For simple, professional programming of the machine, Mayer & Cie. has developed new patterning software MDS 1 specifically for the OVJA 1.1 TTRB. At the ITMA Asia, the OVJA 1.1 TTRB will be on show with a cylinder diameter of 34“, machine gauge E 18 and 36 feeders.
