Mayer & Cie. Indonesia boasted the biggest and arguably the most interesting stand in this product sector. Positioned right in the very middle of the hall, it proved a centre of attraction for the enormous influx of visitors from the circular knitting industry. Registering attendance of just under 5,000, as a purely Indonesian show the Bandung Tex benefited from unexpectedly high number of visitors for a trade fair on this scale.
The lively interest displayed by Indonesian knitwear manufacturers in Mayer & Cie. and the positive sales figures clocked up at the fair clearly demonstrate what a wise move the company made in setting up its own subsidiary to provide advice and services in the important Indonesian market. At the Bandung Tex 2004, Mayer & Cie. exhibited a true “work
horse” in the form of the Relanit 3.2 II.
This high-performance machine was presented at the show with a 34” diameter and gauge E 28, and also featured an open-width frame. Relanit technology guarantees not only outstanding single jersey production, but the Relanit 3.2 II in particular offers scope for placement of the yarn feeder in front of the needle curve for trouble-free production using fancy yarns. With the yarn feeder in the offset position, it guarantees knitting operation taking maximum care of the needles coupled with maximum production output.
Over 400 machines of this type have been sold in Indonesia to date, making Relanit a brand watchword recognized throughout the industry. Fabric dealers no longer offer single jersey but Relanit fabric. It has long since become an established fact among Indonesian knitting manufacturers that the Relanit 3.2 II produces a good 1,000 kg of fabric per day with the utmost reliability.
As at the ITMA 2003, the overwhelming highlight to capture the imagination of trade fair visitors was the fine rib circular knitting machine FS 2.0. As the very first rib machine to maintain the stitch in position after a yarn breakage and knit on again independently after only a few minutes, this model elicited amazement and admiration from show goers. Depending on the yarn quality, according to Indonesian knitters, up to 10 yarn breakages can be expected every day when producing fine rib fabrics.
Laborious knitting on can cost many unproductive hours of work. The FS 2.0, in contrast, resumes full speed production after just a few minutes. The exhibited model had a diameter of 34” with gauge E28. This highly productive fine rib machine is also offered by Mayer & Cie. in body widths from 14” diameter.
The FS 2.0 on show at the Bandung Tex had another special feature to offer. With automatic setting and monitoring capability, an automatic tape regulating function used in combination with CONI TM – a positive feeder with integrated thread infeed measuring device – permits reproducible, constant fabric quality every time. Yarn consumption is optimized as a result and yarn costs are reduced. Yarn feeder belts beneftit from totally slip-free, absolutely positive power transmission from servo motors. These components from the MCTmatic range open up substantial streamlining effects while at the same time enhancing and safeguarding fabric quality.
Those in charge at Mayer & Cie. are anticipating a lively knock-on effect in the form of increased post-fair business. Given the large number of interesting meetings that took place at the show and the fact that everyone who is anyone in the Indonesian circular knitting business was to be seen at the Mayer & Cie. stand, their optimism is unlikely to be misplaced.
