Small but strong – the knitting mill Sarandev Knitts becomes a trendsetter in high quality platting of elastomeric fibers in India.
In the year 2001, with three circular knitting machines of which one was an MV 4-3.2, the knitting mill Sarandev Knitts in Tirupur, the Indian textile center, specialized in high quality elastomeric platted knit fabrics in finer gauges.
Due to the high quality produced, the company was able to gain new customers quickly, especially in Europe. Beginning of 2004 Mayer & Cie. installed a Relanit 3.2 II in 28 gauge and 30 inch diameter in Sarandev Knitts. Making this occasion so special was the fact that this was the first machine in India equipped with the new open width frame in reduced dimensions, which Mayer & Cie. developed especially for platting with elastomeric fibres. The Relanit 3.2 II has a winning combination of high output and consistently high fabric quality, which was one of the reasons Sarandev Knitts was able to gain a new customer from Italy who only accepts the highest quality.
The company sees the future of the knitting mill in a further specialization in the segment high quality platting with elastomeric fibers. In a close partnership Mayer & Cie. will gladly accompany them on this path.
After the installation of the Relanit 3.2 II with the first open width frame in Tirupur, the machine was exhibited to other knitting mills during an open house exhibition. The level of interest was very high, and the first orders show that the Indian textile industry finds itself in a stable upswing phase, which can only accelerate after the liberalisation of world trade in the year 2005.
