VDMA Symposium Lahore, Pakistan
PAKISTAN – one of the most important textile countries worldwide. Germany is the most important partner for the supply of textile machinery to the Pakistan textile industry.
Due to this reason, the German Textile Machinery Association (VDMA), supported by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, organized a textile machinery symposium in Lahore, Pakistan on 27 – 28 May, 2003. Mayer & Cie, the worldwide leading manufacturer of circular knitting machines, was one of the participants, together with 27 further suppliers of the German textile machinery industry. The opening ceremony was held in the presence of Mr. Akhtar Khan, the Ministry of Commerce of Pakistan and the German Ambassador, Dr. Christoph Brümmer. Mayer & Cie was represented by Mr. Rudolf Crass (Area Sales Manager) supported by their new local agent NOON International (Pvt.) Limited in Pakistan with offices in Karachi, Lahore, and Faisalabad. The lecture of Mr. Crass focused on the history of the company, the knitting market worldwide, the Mayer machinery programme and the Circular Knitting Machine as a production unit. More than 60 interested customers from all Pakistan came to attend his speech. In total a number of 620 visitors have been registered for the 2-days symposium. For both sides, the knitting industry of Pakistan and for Mayer & Cie, this Symposium was a well prepared and welcome event with a perfect timing and the chance to further strengthen their business-relationship.
